Seasonal Beers

Abbey Belgian Ale: 6.5% alc/vol.

The flavour of Belgian style ales is unique in the world of beer. Trafalgar’s version runs to rich and spicy and citrus notes and complex flavours. As dictated by the style, the hop bouquet is very subtle. the higher alcohol results in a gentle sweetness that lends itself to after dinner sipping with desserts and fine chocolate.

Red Hill Mild Light Ale: 2.8% alc/vol.

Mild ales were the backbone of nourishment for the English working class prior to the turn of the century. Trafalgar’s mild demonstrates that a light beer can be rich in malt flavour while being low in alcohol. This excellent, all-day summmer ale is a wonderful compliment to vegetable dishes and darker poultry such as turkey or duck. Trafalgar prepares the fist batch of Red Hill Mild for the May 2-4 weekend and makes it available until late fall.

Granery Wheat Ale: 4.5% alc/vol.

A select combination of malted wheat and barley lend this ale a light aroma with a hint of citrus, giving it a tart and refreshing palate. A light hopping makes this an excellent summer beer. Granery Wheat is bottled both as filtered (North American) and unfiltered (European) forms. Trafalgar releases the beer in late spring and makes it available until late fall.

Smokey Oatmeal Stout

This classic dry stout is crafted with pale ale and carastan malts, roasted barley, and steel-cut, organic oatmeal.  Trafalgar’s brewers lovingly smoked their grain over a cold-burning cherry wood fire, and the result is a mellow oatmeal flavour with subtle smokiness.  Try Smoked Oatmeal Stout with grilled steak or smoked oysters.

Maple Bock

The subtle chocolaty sweetness of Trafalgar’s Bock is balanced by its mild bitterness; the addition of a hint of real Ontario Maple Syrup adds another delicious element to this complex and solid Ontario Bock.

Downrigger Bock: 6.5% alc/vol.

A dark, rich and hearty German Lager with a delightful bouquet and subtle sweetness. Available during the winter and into late spring, our Bock is best enjoyed with rich and hearty foods such as duck, goose, rabbit, salmon and other game foods. Available from early February until late spring.

Oak Aged Rye

Oak-Aged Rye is a complex yet clean tasting lager. It’s body and bouquet are the result of  substituting 30%  of the barley with rye, while introducing oak chips during fermentation and ageing. Oak Aged Rye is  wonderful complement to veal, pork and chicken dishes

Cedar Cream Ale

Cedar Cream Ale is an easy drinking, amber coloured ale. Brewed in the North-American style of cream ales, its sweet subtle nose is derived from the addition of cedar chips during fermentation and ageing. Pairs well with BBQ dishes such as steak and hamburgers
